In Doom, We Bloom
Seeing God in the midst of our sorrow
Psalm 30:5 — “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
I don’t know how much more I can take,
All the times I thought you were there,
Now it feels as if you have left me here.
This is hard.
I would have never chosen this path.
Why God would give me this?
My head is heavy and I can barely move,
I then remember this life of mine is for You,
There is greater coming my way…
Lord would you help me see the your joy on the other side of today.
Psalm 42:11 — “Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”
Psalm 34:18 — “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 73:26 — “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
And yet—
even in the ashes, I see green.
A shoot rising where the ground split open,
a fragile stem daring to lift its face to heaven.
You turn mourning into dancing,
winter into spring.
The soil of sorrow becomes the bed of new life,
and what felt like the end
begins to blossom with Your breath.
Hope is not buried,
it is planted.
Every tear becomes water for the seed,
every ache a crack in the earth
where mercy breaks through.
I bloom because You breathe.
I rise because You reign.
And even in doom,
Your beauty breaks through.
What was once despair
now grows into testimony.
For joy is not a guest that comes and goes,
it is the harvest of Your faithfulness.
And I will wait for it, sing for it, trust for it,
until my sorrow is clothed in songs of praise.
Psalms 125:5-6 — “Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy! He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.”
